WSUS 3.0 Review
WSUS is an excellent tool to help manage the updates delivered to the workstations on your network. WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) in the 1.0 and 2.0 versions was a web based application. The 3.0 version is now loaded in the MMC (Microsoft Management Console). I find the new version gives me more information about the client computers and the updates they have or have not received.
After testing it on one client for a few days I immediately upgraded all my clients to the 3.0 version. I only had one minor problem with the configuration of .NET not allowing access to the console. After deleting the configuration file it opened right up. We have been running it for about two months and had great success. This is a free download from Microsoft and highly recommended for anyone running a client/server environment.
